"For Tom" is comprised of six acoustic guitar pieces -- three solo and three with special guest Viktor Krauss. Viktor is a genuine bass deity with over 500 recording credits with artists ranging from Martin Taylor, James Taylor, Chet Atkins and Bill Frisell to Carly Simon, Sheryl Crow, Dolly Parton and Lyle Lovett. Most recently (2023) he toured with sister Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. He also runs a studio in Nashville (www.ViktorKrauss,com).

Three of the pieces ("The Girl In The Meadow," "In My Father's House," and "Fairest Brother") initially appeared on "Down The Road." "For Tom" was also on that recording as the title track. It has been substantially reworked, as has "In My Father's House." These four pieces were played on a Martin D-28 with two finger picks and a thumb pick and recorded on a small ZOOM digital recorder. "G" and "Sunday Songs" were played bare-fingered on a composite Martin owned by my late father in law Vern Freeman.
